First presented at Salone del Mobile 2023, the Trave chair is yet another proof of the great attunement between designers BrogliatoTraverso and Magis! What the designers came up with is all about subtraction: a simple bar of solid ash which becomes the focus of the entire design and the only element to which the legs and the two fabric cushions, which serve as seat and backrest, are attached.

Only the preparation of the central curved beam requires seven days, in which the piece first gets soaked in steam, then immediately bent, and finally placed in a drying kiln. Once dried, the beam is refined and assembled with legs and cushions, obtaining a chair that merges industrial technology and craftsmanship. This innovative structural solution reduces the components to a minimum, while increasing comfort by allowing large padded surfaces.

With a structure in solid ash available in a natural finish and two stained versions – oak and black –, and a wide variety of fabrics to choose from, Trave is a chair suitable for any setting, whether domestic or contract: almost archetypal, yet graceful and timeless. Effortless furniture which is unconstrained by trends and which reflects the multi-faceted nature of modern living.

 • BrogliatoTraverso

After graduating in Architecture from Venice University, Italy and various experiences – from learning how to blow glass in Murano to working traditional ceramics in Japan – Alberto Brogliato and Federico Traverso founded the BrogliatoTraverso design studio in 2014. Their approach to design is called ‘NO TIME, NO SPACE’ and refers to their will to make objects with a timeless design that fit in with any setting. BrogliatoTraverso work by subtracting, creating a detailed but almost invisible hallmark.

Through these subtly implied forms, their creations establish a deep, intimate empathy with users and their surroundings, respecting them both. Their refined simplification process delivers projects that address the needs of consumers and are produced for various design brands. T

hese partnerships have won the studio many international awards, including the Red Dot Design Award, German Design Award, iF Design Award, Interior Design Best of Year, and Good Design Award.
