Normann Copenhagen My Chair
A Completely Aesthetic and Harmonic Chair With My Chair, the designer Nicholai Wiig Hansen has reinterpreted the classic shell chair adding a striking elegance and harmony. The rounded corners and curved waist counterbalance the rigorous design of the chair.
My Table shares the same rigorous and elegant characteristics of My Chair with its rounded corners and angles and curves of the frame. The design is timeless and has a harmonious and inviting feel. On closer inspection of the chair and table you will gradually notice a number of understated details, bearing witness to the fact that all of its features are carefully thought out. For example, no standard parts have been used, but instead customized solutions have been implemented allowing a completely aesthetic experience no matter from what angle you look at the product. Nicholai Wiig Hansen explains: “My aim was to design a chair with unequalled harmony and to try to come close to the indefinable quality that, in my opinion, lifts a design to another level.
My Chair is a mixture of something familiar and something new, something neutral yet characterful, something present but not dominating, something simple as well as complex and something rigorous as well as curved. In other words, My Chair is a shell chair the way I think it should be
” ”The aim of My Table was to make a table using the simplest kind of construction possible, while at the same time making sure it was both versatile and durable. It has been a long and challenging process and although it doesn't look like it when you see the finished result, it is extremely complicated to make a product with such a simple feel. There is no room for a single wrong proportion or angle and one millimeter too much can interfere with the whole overall experience.”

Nicholai Wiig Hansen has had his own design studio since he was 26 years old. When Nicholai designs he uses himself as the target group. Proportions are extremely important in his work and details are not added from a decoration perspective but only if they serve some kind of purpose. He is inspired by everything that surrounds him and especially art, food, nature and machinery. When Nicholai Wiig Hansen designs a new product he always thinks the product to end in his head before sketching a single drawing. Everything from production to form and all the way to the end-user
