The Mater Shell Dining Chair is now introduced with a new and softer leather upholstery version of the Mater Shell Chair designed by Michael Dreeben. The collaboration with the most recognized Danish leather supplier, Sorensen Leathers, is bringing a new softness and tactility to the Mater collection.

Dunes is a premium leather quality of chrome-free aniline leather in an anthrazite black and rust colour giving the material a beautiful and patinated look over time. A layer of foam is making the seating of the chair a more comfortable and soft experience.

Michael W. Dreeben

After completing an MFA in sculpture at the University of Chicago, Michael W. Dreeben pursued apprenticeships with master woodworkers and was later awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study traditional craft and woodworking in Rajasthan State in North India. Upon returning from India, he continued to pursue a range of design interests, and co-founded and operated Accuslab, LLC, which supplied stock lines of concrete furniture and architectural components to several large national retailers. His work reflects sculptural sensibility, thoughtful engagement with material, and wide ranging design and production experience.
