The Italian lighting design firm
One of the global leaders in lighting striving to constantly create innovative cutting edge design.
Founded in Milan in 1993, NEMO represents, within the design lighting producers’ scenario, a benchmark name, going back to the roots of innovation that always inspired Italian design. The collection of contemporary design includes models conceived by Carlo Forcolini, Jehs + Laub, Javier Mariscal, Karim Rashid, Ilaria Marelli, Foster+Partners, Hannes Wettstein and Roberto Paoli.
Since the 1950s, the Ciatti family has been running the company that bears its name, and the business has evolved – and is still evolving - over three generations.
The driving force behind it all is Lapo Ciatti’s passion for design, understood as a form of expression applied to common objects, and this passion has made an indelible impression on all phases of his life. Today, it’s a collection of bookshelves, mirrors and furnishings – and tomorrow it’s a whirlwind lifestyle. In his forward moving path, he will be dealing with every room in the house and more, always careful to evolve beyond what has been done.
In 1996, Carine Jannin who was then just twenty four years old, decided to create her own publishing house specialized in the design of objects. Her singular and strategic choices, free from all archetypes, allot a central position to the independence of creation. Together with Rachel and Benoît Convers, the established designers of the label, they combine a family trio, precursors in author design. Based on audacious concepts such as the “ made in France ” and objects with dual interpretations, this publishing house blossoms independently and cultivates its differences on the fringe of insidious standardization. The Ibride creations can be recognized at a glance: their references to the animal kingdom, their destructured archetypal shapes, and the graphic stamp of their museum like style, make up their territory of distinction.
