Matteo Thun
Matteo Thun established his design studio in Milan in the eighties and since then has concentrated on the task of designing articles in daily use for well known brands. As one of the co-initiators of the ?Memphis” design movement, Matteo Thun very quickly achieved considerable recognition.
Characteristic for the work of Matteo Thun is the slogan “Baroque Bauhaus”. The clinically functional design that was predominant up to the eighties now has a valuable new component added to it. He clearly rejects exaggerated use of shapes; he is concerned with implementing the basic principle of harmony and regularity. It is not solely the appearance that is crucial here. Particularly in the case of cutlery, which you have frequent and intensive bodily contact with, you must be able to feel the shapes as well.
