  • Sandra Lindner

Sandra Lindner received extensive technical training in working with metal and textiles in the course of three traineeships. Studies at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg culminating in a degree as industrial designer further honed her knowledge and skills. In parallel, the native of Baden-Württemberg studied architecture for several semesters and already opened her own design studio, ‘Lindner im Norden’, in 1996. One of Sandra Lindner’s fundamental principles is ‘singlepiece production’. This concept can be found in nearly all of her products. She moreover integrates the idiosyncrasies of handcraftsmanship into serial production. In the lamp Verform, for example, the preparatory work is done according to the criteria of industrial manufacture, but the porcelain is subsequently submitted to random processing to make each lamp one-of-a-kind. The magazine Elle Decoration named Sandra Lindner Newcomer of the Year in 2007. For several years Sandra Lindner has been a visiting lecturer in design in the Department of Architecture and Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Wismar. Today’s sustainability issues are a current focus in Lindner’s work, as well as the unique qualities of natural raw materials. Her furniture series ‘Bestiaux’ and the flooring ‘Pinhua mudiban’ are made from recycled materials. With her most recent works using ceramics, Lindner establishes a connection between movement and form.
