Made in a limited edition of 999 copies and and 3 artist's proofs, Alessandro Mendini’s Proust vase is an object that straddles the line between art and design, dedicated to collectors with a passion for unique objects. A precious object, the lid and base are decorated with pure gold applied by hand, that gives us an extraordinary interpretation of the famous decoration inspired by the renowned writer Marcel Proust and the Parisian pointillists.
Alessi Values Collection is the special initiative that, in the occasion of Alessi’s centennial, celebrates Unusual and quite exclusive design by designer Alessandri Mendini - the Proust vase was originally produced in two copies for the exhibition "Italy-Germany 4-3 - Fifty Years of Italian and German Design" in Bonn. Now it is part of the 100 Values Collection by Alessi in relation to the second value of the Italian company "Art".the values that define the identity and the practice of the “Dream Factory”.
A collection of astonishing objects, coming from the Alessi Museum’s archives: objects never produced until now, unpublished versions, icons caught in their becoming. Twelve projects, each referring to a different value, will be presented over the course of twelve months, between April 2021 and March 2022. Alessandro Mendini was born in Milan in 1931, former director of Casabella, Modo and Domus, winner of a Compasso d?Oro and designer of the Groninger Museum in Groningen, the Casino in Arosa, the Forum in Omegna, he is a designer, architect and image consultant for Philips, Swarovski, Swatch, and Bisazza.
