It is not difficult to see how designer Markus Johansson drew inspiration from 17th century ship cannons as he created the CARRONADE lamp series. The idea of a small table lamp, with a distinctive but playful shape of a small cannon was quite a challenge. Realizing gunpowder and cannonballs references, by way of modern lighting technology then synchronized with 21st century contemporary Nordic lighting designs, was no simple task but very much a ‘Eureka’ moment.

This beautiful floor lamp exhibits craftmanship at its finest. Iconic in design, with a diffused face, held atop an elongated geometric stand, by way of a piece of skillfully manipulated solid American walnut and brass discs. This is truly, a sculpture in lighting. Equipped with the multi-functionality of a traditional floor lamp and the ability to determine the direction of the light. Carronade High exudes pure style and elegance in all surroundings.

Manufactured in matt black painted steel, brass and solid American walnut. All models are fitted with LED light bulbs.

Marcus Johansson

Markus Johansson graduated in 2011 from HDK (School of Design and Crafts) Goteborg Sweden His studio is located in Central Goteborg where he specializes in design and the development of design of furniture, product, graphic and lighting. Markus works with both Swedish and international design companies and has won numerous awards which also includes his highly acclaimed Nest chair which was exhibited at The Museum of Art and Design, New York. Markus explains about his work with design and product development: "My goal is to create products that are different and unusual in shape as well as function. I try to find inspiration from numerous environments and by means of analyzing and processing, I conclude that Design, for me, has to be a perfect combination of construction function and form, which conveys emotions, that subtly affects us as humans, while simultaneously, enhances our daily experiences and also, embodies lasting values." His first collaboration with LE KLINT has resulted in a new series of lighting called CARRONADE originally based on the idea of a table lamp with a distinctive playful yet challenging shape, as a small cannon.
