Alessi Lime wood centerpiece,Limited edtion of 999 pieces.

An eclectic figure who defies description in a few brief lines, Ettore Sottsass was an architect, designer, urban planner, traveller, photographer, writer.... who showed unwavering commitment to reflection on ethical and existential matters.

His collaboration with Alessi, which began in 1972, marked a crucial milestone in the company's history, contributing to its transformation into an Italian Design Factory.

In 2017, the centenary of the birth of this outstanding talent, Alessi celebrates him with a new edition of the “ES14” Centrepiece: originally presented in 1990 and produced in lime wood, it is one of the most significant pieces designed by Sottsass for the company.

Ettore Sottsass
Ettore Sottsass was born in Innsbruck in 1917, he is known the world over as one of the initiators of the revolution in architecture and design which led away from the rigid functionalism of the years prior to and following the Second World War. A great and influential Maestro of Italian design, the energy of his language and the vitality of his colour and line contrast sharply with any intellectualism and rigidity.
